100 guerrillas waiting to sneak into Kashmir: Army

Srinagar: At least 100 militants were waiting to infiltrate the whole valley of Kashmir Line of Control (LOC), the military said Monday citing information gleaned by the intelligence agencies.

Statement of the Army Public Affairs Office here, said: "Elimination of the hinterland of a large number of militants this year created a vacuum in the management of terrorism and their effectiveness. Therefore, the pressure on terrorist training camps / POK launch pads to infiltrate.

"This has confirmed the intelligence inputs of various intelligence agencies that have demonstrated the existence of an additional 100 poised to rebel infiltration across the LoC.

"Traditionally, the onset of snow infiltration is reduced, but since late winter, the terrorists, as in the past, trying desperately to break into the coming months."

Statement also said that attempts had been made by private interests interfere with the synergy between the various security forces conducted counter-insurgency operations in Jammu and Kashmir.

"It seems that the harmful elements of the test, probably across the LoC, the wedge between the army, other security forces and state government, the breaking of a good synergy that is created throughout 2011."

The statement also claimed that the army was able to work within the parameters of difference of opinion as per the democratic norms.

Clearing the air about the stand of the military withdrawal of the armed forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA), the statement said: "It is therefore, incorrect to surmise that the infiltration is related to the topic or repeal AFSPA."

Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has been pushing the AFSPA withdrawal of the four districts of Srinagar, Badgam, Samba and Jammu as army continues to believe that such a move would prevent its effective operation of the guerrillas.
